Facebook Will Double Size

The steady growth in the number of users who use Facebook every day forced the company to increase its infrastructure.
In January of this year the company had announced it would expand its current data center located in Prineville (Oregon), but the original project was added to a second stage which should double its current infrastructure.

The first stage of the project should be ready in the course of next year, while the second stage would be ready in 2012. Completed both stages of the existing facilities, 13,656 meters square, would move to 28.500 thousand meters square.

During the construction phase is estimated that about 200 workers will be hired, while the administration of the servers will be in charge of 35 people.

Of course, the expansion of infrastructure that Facebook has not been without controversy, as the company that it will take to provide the energy necessary for the operation of the facilities used primarily coal for power generation.
